It finally snowed here!

Since we’re gearing up for a move to the tropics, we’ve started getting rid of our cold weather clothes.

Thank goodness we didn’t get rid of all of it.

Last week we finally had enough snow to play in, and the boys had a blast building a snowman having a snowball fight.  I was able to pull them away from throwing mush at each other for about 37 seconds, which was just long enough to snap this picture.

I was really thankful that the boys got a chance to really play around in the snow.  I don’t know when the next time they’ll have a chance to do that will be and I’m glad they’ll have a memory of it.

We’ve started the process of “lasts” and it’s been pretty emotional at points.  This was our last winter here (as far as we can see) and getting rid of winter clothes and shoes has started.  It’s certainly bittersweet.

With the Navy, we’ve done goodbyes before and I’m really not looking forward to them.  But I’m thrilled about finally being able to put down roots and not planning on moving again.  At least, not moving far again.

So, that’s where we are.

How are you?

About mjstearns

We are Mark, Jenni, Tate and Theo Stearns. We currently live in Beaverton, Oregon, but are planning to move to Nicaragua within the next six months. We'll be serving as missionaries to Verbo Church, a non denominational church with several Nicaraguan locations. Specifically we'll be working at Casa Bernabe, an orphanage run by the church, assisting in vocational training and transition programs for the older boys.
