Last Week

We survived. I realize I probably sound overly dramatic, but it was a long week for Casa Bernabe.

We had illnesses, injuries, minor car accidents.

Kids here lost family members unexpectedly.

While everyone is physically on the mend, I think that emotional wounds will be taking a toll for a while.

Please pray for the emotional and spiritual well being of the kids and staff here at Casa. The kids that come to live here have already experienced several emotional beatings. This past week just compounds their losses.

We are Mark, Jenni, Tate and Theo Stearns. We currently live in Beaverton, Oregon, but are planning to move to Nicaragua within the next six months. We'll be serving as missionaries to Verbo Church, a non denominational church with several Nicaraguan locations. Specifically we'll be working at Casa Bernabe, an orphanage run by the church, assisting in vocational training and transition programs for the older boys.

    I will be praying – especially for those who lost a loved one.
    My screensaver at work is now a group shot of all the wonderful younger girls taken our last morning there recently. When the workday seems long & frustrating, I just have to look at that picture and my heart smiles.
